Welcome to Parkade!
This guide will cover everything you need to know about using Parkade at Metro HQ to pay for and reserve parking. If you have any questions that are not answered by this guide, please contact us at hello@parkade.com, or by reaching out to Campus Operations staff at the front desk or at mrc.help@oregonmetro.gov.
Setting up Your Account
Signing up on Parkade is easy! First things first, you’ll need to download Parkade. You can use this link to download the app and set up your account: parkade.com/download.
After you download the app, set up your account using your phone number, email, and name. When you get to the Find a parking lot screen, search for "Metro Regional Government" and click on the first result (you can also search for 600 NE Grand Ave, Portland). When asked, just enter “employee” for your connection. Here's a quick video showing the signup process:
The Campus Operations team will then review your request to join the lot. We'll send you an email notification once you've been approved!
Using Parkade
How do I find (and pay for) daily parking?
Reserving and paying for daily parking spots is handled easily on Parkade! You can search for daily parking in the Parkade app by navigating to the Park tab at the bottom of the app, and then:
- Click Find Parking
- Make sure you’re on Fixed Date
- Select the date and time you want to find parking
- Click Search
- Choose the spot you’d like to rent
- Review the details and hit Book
- You'll be asked to choose who the spot is for (tap "Me")
- Enter your vehicle details!
If you haven’t already added a payment method to your account, you will be prompted to do so when reserving your spot. You can pay via Apple Pay, or via Credit/Debit card! Here’s another video showing this process in action:
What if I need to cancel my reservation?
Canceling your reservation is simple! Provided it's no more than 15 minutes past the start of your reservation (and any time before it starts) just click on the spot reservation you would like to cancel and tap Cancel Reservation → Cancel now. We'll automatically refund you once the reservation is canceled!
What if someone is parked in my spot?
Parkade makes it easy to report someone parked in your rented spot — simply tap on your spot in the app, then scroll down and hit Report parking problem. You’ll then be directed to our problem reporting flow! You’ll be asked to upload a picture of the car in your spot, and enter the license plate information. A couple of things happen from there:
- If the license plate is in our system, we will automatically notify the owner of the car that they are parked in the wrong spot and need to move
- You will have the option to rent a new spot for free (if any are available), or wait for us to contact the wayward parker
Parking enforcement itself will be handled by Campus Operations staff. While it's likely the person in your spot simply made a mistake and parked in a spot or two over, please be aware that Campus Operations staff takes unauthorized parking seriously, and it may result in disciplinary action.
FAQs
How does payment for daily parking work?
You will pay for parking through Parkade! When you first try to reserve a spot, you will need to add a payment method to your account — debit/credit cards and Apple pay are all accepted!
Is long-term parking available?
Only daily parking is available at Metro Regional Center.
Do I need to use Parkade to continue parking at Metro Regional Center?
Yes. Employee parkers at Metro Regional Center will need to download and use Parkade to find, reserve, and pay for their parking needs.
What if I don't see any spots in the app when looking for parking?
Double check the times you are searching for to make sure you aren't looking at the wrong date or time. If you check this and still don't see any available spots, the lot may be full. In this scenario, you’ll need to look for alternative means of parking for the day.
Who will have access to the garage?
All Metro employees, regardless of reporting location, are eligible to pay and use a parking space in the underground garage. You’ll need a MRC access badge to gain entrance to the garage. To obtain a badge, contact the Campus Operations staff at mrc.help@oregonmetro.gov.
Are there spots for electric vehicle (EV) charging?
Yes, there are two EV spots (spots 39 and 40) on floor 1. You can add a filter to search for these spots by clicking on "EV" when searching for a spot. Please note that these spots can only be reserved for an hour at a time, so be sure you limit your reservation time range accordingly!
Are there any motorcycle spots?
Yes, there are six motorcycle spots. You can filter by "motorcycle" parking within Parkade when searching for a spot.
Why does Parkade need a phone number? (and how does Parkade use my contact information?)
Logins at Parkade are tied to your phone number. We only use your contact information to send important information regarding your reservations, or to give you notice if your vehicle is reported as improperly parked.
Can I use a Google Voice / number?
Yes! In fact, you can use any voice service, provided it has a number that can receive text messages (including international phone numbers).
Does Parkade have access to my payment information?
No one at Parkade has access to your payment information. Credit/debit card information is handled by our payment processor, Stripe.
How do I add or update my vehicle, payment methods, or phone number/email?
All of this can be done on the Account of the app. Just click the appropriate section you would like to edit once there!
I still have questions/concerns. How do I get more help?
You can always reach us at hello@parkade.com! Alternatively, you can check in with the campus operations staff at the front desk or at mrc.help@oregonmetro.gov!
