Don't be left out! We'd love for you to add your building's parking data to this database. It's easy:
Count the total number of parking spots and number of parked cars in your parking, at the time of peak demand (usually 10p-7a). Include the number of units in your building, if you know it. We'll add your data to our collection!
The data collected shows that, for the most part, we were building far too much parking in resident buildings. Many people believe most parking is used —especially at night — but the data show that even in the middle of the night, a huge portion of parking sits empty.
Peak demand can vary from building to building, but generally it's going to be in the middle of the night. That's the time at which the highest portion of residents are at home, with their vehicle in their parking spot, so it's a good time to measure "peak demand."
